University of Washington Botanic Gardens Plant CSI Series: What is Wrong with my Apple Tree? (1.75 CEUs)
Tuesday, August 22, 2023, 9:00 AM - 10:45 AM PDT
Category: E-Learning

Become a Plant Crime Scene Investigator (CSI)! Learn about key plant diseases and insect pests that can cause problems for favorite trees and shrubs in the landscape.

There is nothing better than taking the first juicy bite of a delicious apple picked right off of the tree. But then you notice the holes and dark areas on the fruit, and spots on the leaves, and the bark seems to be peeling off. What’s happening? This course will cover common insect pests and diseases of apple trees, including apple scab, apple anthracnose, powdery mildew, nectria canker, codling moth, apple maggot, aphids, tent caterpillar and fall webworm. Plant Health Care (PHC) approaches to management, including accepted Integrated Pest Management (IPM) methods will be covered.
