Hardscaping is an integral feature of landscapes and refers to the "built" environment utilizing hard surfaces. Patios, walkways, retaining walls, steps, and water features are all examples of hard surfaces in the garden. In this practical and interactive course, explore how patios can enhance the residential landscape design. Learn fundamental principles for planning and installation through presentations, group discussions, and a hardscape design project. Explore Longwood’s grounds to learn more about the uses and effects of hardscaping in the built garden environment.
