About Andy

Andy Thomas, CLVLT, COLD, is the owner of Viewpoint Lighting, a landscape and architectural lighting design-build firm based in Sacramento, serving northern California. Andy founded his lighting business in 2005, building on seven years of experience with landscape supply distributors — Ewing and The Urban Farmer Store — as well as his work as a technical services representative for the lighting manufacturer FX Luminaire. He is a Certified Low Voltage Lighting Technician (CLVLT) and a Certified Outdoor Lighting Designer (COLD).

He is the immediate past president of the Association of Outdoor Lighting Professionals (AOLP), as well as former chair of both the CLVLT and COLD committees, training the next crop of lighting designers and technicians. He has won numerous lighting design awards through AOLP, CLCA and APLD, and was recently published in the new Masters of Landscape Lighting coffee table book, an international collection of lighting designers.
