I am an award winning, 20 year veteran of the landscape design industry. I hold a degree in interior design from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and have worked in top architectural firms in both Pittsburgh and NYC. But after meeting my husband, who owned a small landscape maintenance company in New Jersey, I decided to switch gears and careers by applying all that I had learned about interior space and design and started getting my hands dirty and applying my skills to the outdoors. I am very hands-on on the job, from project inception through completion. I am your designer (I draw the plans and do computer images), I am your plant and material buyer, your plant grower (as owner of Deer Haven Nursery, a perennial farm division of our parent company, Giejda Landscape Contractors, Inc.) and your job foreman on any installation. I pride myself on my approach of treating outdoor space with a lot of the same principles used in interior design layouts .... a place for everything and everything in its place. I learned through DOING IT for over 20 years, and not just on paper ... but as a hands-on participant in every aspect of the job. APLD is my sheepskin, having been certified for 12 years (as of 2017). My husband and I have since grown our little landscape company into a much larger operation where we offer everything from landscape design services and grounds maintenance to hardscaping, drainage, excavating growing perennials and much more. As a designer, I am very interested in sustainable landscape practices and I am a proponent of the National Wildlife Federation's "Backyard Wildlife Habitat Program".
