Certified as a professional horticulturalist (CPH), Everett is actually more of a landscape designer-builder than a nurseryman. An engineer-turned-naturalist, he is the founder and owner of Azusa Farm and Gardens LLC, a garden center and urban-farming demonstration site in the scenic Skagit Valley. His deepest desire and satisfaction has been helping his gardener customers and landscape clients create beautiful, natural, inviting, therapeutic, and sustainable landscape around their homes and businesses. Backed by his 30+ years of plant-collections and garden-design experiences, his “signature design” is winding trails meandering through “gardens of many rooms” and evoking a sense of embrace by forest and connection with nature. A true believer of lifelong learning, he was the first certified sustainable landscape professional (ecoPRO, by WALP and WSNLA) in Skagit, Whatcom, San Juan, and Island Counties in Washington State. Because of his obsession with the philosophy of “happy plants for happy gardens for happy life” and total customer satisfaction, his nursery is accredited by Better Business Bureau (BBB) with the highest ranking (A+). And his landscape design/build operation is accepted by Angie’s List to be among “the best service companies” with the highest overall ratings (A) from all verified/certified member reviews on his completed projects according to five categories of price, quality, responsiveness, punctuality, and professionalism. His clients also much loved their experience of in-situ garden presentations (with actual plants) in his design studio inside his open-air garden store. A rain-garden expert and creator, he gives frequent speeches to garden clubs, county-extension workshops, and home/garden shows on topics such as sustainable-landscape design principles and bee-friendly gardens.
